Treated raw water is needed in industrial plants for a diversity of purposes. Around 90% of extracted water is used industrially or for energy generation and distribution.
Service water is necessary for preparatory processing phases or industrial purposes. Typical applications include, e.g. the supply of thermal power stations and petrochemical plants with coolant water, water for fire extinguishing systems and the cleaning of machinery. Service water of an appropriate quality is taken from the corresponding point in the water treatment plant.
During treatment, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, full and partial desalination by softening, reverse osmosis, ion exchange and thermal desalination processes can be combined or used alternately.
Industrial operations need various water qualities for differing applications, e.g. process water for direct use in production, boiler feed water and treated condensate for boiler plants and service water either as a supplement in cooling towers, or for general purposes.
WABAG has a comprehensive range of experience with such combined plants for industrial applications.
