New O&M contract for WABAG in Oman

The sea water desalination plant at Sohar Port designed and built by WABAG in 2013 will now be operated by WABAG for the next 6 years.

The New Year 2017 started on a pleasant note for VA TECH WABAG Ltd. with award of the contract for Operation & Maintenance services of the 20,000 m3/d desalination plant at the Sohar International Port Complex in Oman. The plant was built by WABAG in 2013 and employs the most modern membrane technologies. WABAG will now assume responsibility for the operational management for a period of six years. The contract value amounts to over Euro 11 million.

The Majis SWRO plant was the second plant to be built by WABAG in Oman, following the Duqm SWRO plant. At both these plants, WABAG adopted the progressive design of microfiltration as pre-treatment prior to the Reverse Osmosis process. The plant produces 12,000 m3/day of potable water and 8,000 m3/day of industrial water for the modern industrial complex from where various petrochemical and methanol plants operate.

To secure water supply at desired quality for the complex, the client, Majis Industrial Services (MIS) SAOC, required a reliable partner who could operate the plant effectively. WABAG’s proven domain expertise and efforts to constantly stay in touch with the client helped bag this major O&M contract.

The award speaks volumes for the confidence the client has reposed in WABAG’s professional excellence.
