VA TECH WABAG has taken over the operational management of the Adana waste water treatment plants for the second time. The large Adana East and West plants with a total capacity of 370,000 m3/d were built and maintained by WABAG till 2009. Our client, ASKI maintained the plants themselves and they have now re-assigned the operation and maintenance part to WABAG.
VA TECH WABAG built the Adana East and West waste water treatment plants ten years ago. The municipal and industrial waste water is in mechanical/biological treatment stages prior to discharge into the Mediterranean through the River Seyhan. The sewage sludge is subjected to anaerobic treatment and the biogas produced during controlled fermentation is fed into a unit power plant
The thermal and electrical energy thus produced is efficiently used for captive consumption. The new O&M contract also includes the operation and maintenance of the small scale Karaisali wastewater treatment plant which has a capacity of 1,700 m3/d.
Commenting on this development, Mr. Erik Gothlin, CEO, WABAG Austria and Mr Mahmut Gedek, Managing Director, WABAG Turkey said, “We are very pleased that ASKI has again entrusted WABAG with the management of the waste water treatment plants. This speaks volumes for customer confidence in our professionalism which makes WABAG a reliable partner for management of large and complex plants”
