Water Treatment

Water Treatment

Pure water is a prerequisite for every production process. In fact, a continuous supply of clean water is crucial for the production processes and decisive for the economic success of the industrial facility.

WABAG offers an extensive portfolio of treatment processes under various business models like EPC, DBO, BOT and BOOT. We cover virtually every need from conventional processes to tailor-made high-performance systems (e.g. multiple barrier processes for water reclamation).

We offer the full spectrum of industrial water solutions for different sectors namely Oil and Gas, Power, Semiconductors, Fertilizers, Steel, Food and Beverage and Pharmaceuticals and many more.

The projects executed in Paradip (Odisha, India), Indorama (Nigeria), Petrobrazi (Romania), and Prerov (Czech Republic) speak volumes for the client-confidence reposed in WABAG’s technological expertise.

Desalination For Industrial Use

The gap between water demand and supply is increasing in emerging markets with burgeoning populations and steady industrial growth. In such cases, especially in coastal areas, desalination is an alternative, feasible and reliable source of water to ensure water sustainability.

As proven leaders and reliable partners in the field of desalination, WABAG offers comprehensive technological solutions for the treatment of sea and brackish water. Coupled with execution excellence and global standards in project management, WABAG believes in providing models to ensure water security for its esteemed industrial clients. Factoring in the value of money as well as time taken for industrial projects, WABAG has references that stand out competitively in terms of cost and execution time. Our expertise extends to customising desalination solutions on every major business model — EPC, DBO, BOT and BOOT.

WABAG is your total lifecycle partner and provides solutions for all key industrial sectors such as Power, Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Semiconductors. Our solutions include complete range of technologies such as membrane-based reverse osmosis and evaporation-based thermal desalination. WABAG excels in designing and providing electrodialysis and ion exchange solutions for demineralised water.

Some of our marquee references are the 50,000 m3/day desalination plant for Reliance Industries in Gujarat and the 20,000 m3/day Desalination Plant in Sohar, Oman, that caters to the industries in the Sohar Port.

Effluent Treatment

WABAG’s technological solutions are designed to treat harmful and complex industrial effluents through a series of state-of-the-art treatment processes. Based on the characteristics of the influents, we offer customized treatment solutions involving aerobic, anaerobic and chemical-physical processes for any business model, be it EPC, BOT, DBOT and BOOT. Our solutions enable resource recovery from effluents in terms of reuse as process water and production of green energy from sludge. We employ highly-effective membrane processes (UF, RO) for water recovery systems reducing burden on freshwater sources and ensuring high-quality treatment of wastewater, thus conforming to international discharge norms.

Our water treatment solutions are tailor-made to suit the application requirements of different industries like Oil and Gas, Fertilizers, Power-Plants, Steel, Paper and Pulp, Food and Beverage.

Plants like Petronas RAPID in Johor, Malaysia, for Oil and Gas, and Dangote, Nigeria, for Fertilizers, are some examples of WABAG’s technological expertise in achieving the highest standards of effluent treatment.

Water Reclamation

With the dwindling number of natural water sources the first priority is to provide potable water.
There is limited raw water available for meeting industrial needs. The only optimal solution, therefore, is to treat effluents, recycle and reuse them. WABAG’s experience and expertise make it your complete lifecycle partner for business modules such as EPC, BOOT and DBO·

Guided by the principle that water is too precious to be used only once, WABAG has been a pioneer for over 30 years in building state-of-the-art water reclamation systems for industries. Our technological solutions include multi-barrier systems, micro-filtration, tertiary ultra-filtration, reverse osmosis, advanced oxidation processes and disinfection.

WABAG projects like the water recycling plant for IOCL at Paradip Refinery, which is the largest industrial reuse plant in India, reinforce our technological expertise in the field of water reclamation.

Sludge Treatment

WABAG uses best-in-industry technical know-how and expertise to treat industrial effluents such as oily waste and organic matter to form sludge, which is a rich reservoir of bio-gas. We use specialised processes for the extraction of valuable biogas which, in turn, serves as the energy fodder for the entire wastewater treatment plant and fuelling energy-intensive, process cycles in the parent industry. As a result, the carbon footprint as well as dependence on outside power sources is reduced.

WABAG technologies also ensure that the digested sludge does not pose a threat to the environment. Further, our technologies like BIOZONE-AD®, which use ozone with pre-digested sludge for an accelerated and more comprehensive oxidative decomposition of the incoming sludge enable an ultra-efficient sludge digestion.

Our sludge treatment solutions can be customised for any business model, be it EPC, DBO, BOT or BOOT. Our sludge management system at Reliance PTA Recycling Plant in Dahej is a model plant where Biogas generated from the sludge is used for heating (resulting in 40% savings in OPEX). As a result of the sludge drying process, nutrient recovery is also ensured.

Sustainable solutions. For a better life.

The WABAG Group head quartered in Chennai with its global presence in 4 Continents and more than 20 countries has a work-force of more than 2,000.
