100 MLD Ilugin WWTP providing eco-friendly sanitation for 600,000+, restoring Pasig River’s water and improving public health.

WABAG has built the Ilugin Sewage Treatment Plant in Pinagbuhatan, based on the SBR process at Pasig City, Metro Manila including operations of the STP for a period of two years. With a capacity of 100,000 m3/d (maximum 150,000 m3/d) it is one of the largest plants in the Philippines and serves almost 660,000 of the population living around the vicinity of the Pasig River. The project was funded by the World Bank.

Project Features:

  • Scope: Design, Build and Operate a 100 MLD STP.
  • Treatment Process:
    • Pre-treatment: Fine screening, grit and grease removal
    • Biological treatment:  Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR)
    • Sludge treatment: Combined thickening and dewatering
    • Odour control:  Integrated pre-scrubber and bio-filter
    • Post-treatment: Disinfection (chlorination)
  • Impact: The plant will guarantee environmentally-friendly wastewater treatment and adequate sanitation for over 600,000 people. Furthermore, it improves the water quality of the Pasig river ensuring cleaner, healthier ecosystems and improved public health.
