WABAG successfully executed the Design, Build, and Operate (DBO) contract from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for the construction of a 150 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at K&C Valley, Bengaluru. Commissioned in 2022, the plant plays a crucial role in protecting and enhancing the environment around Bellandur Lake by improving the quality of natural water resources. The project was designed to meet the stringent guidelines of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and comply with the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) policy. Following the construction, WABAG is also responsible for operating and maintaining the plant for a period of 10 years.
Project Highlights:
- Scope: Design, Build, and Operate the plant, with a 10-year O&M period. The STP was designed to ensure compliance with CPCB standards, featuring a Biological Nutrient Removal System and power generation capabilities.
- Treatment Process: The plant employs the Activated Sludge Process with Biological Nutrient Removal to efficiently remove nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater, ensuring compliance with regulatory norms.
- Impact: The project has significantly improved the water quality of Bellandur Lake by treating sewage effluents before discharge, contributing to the protection of local ecosystems and aligning with Bengaluru’s environmental sustainability goals.
