Refurbishment and Expansion of effluent treatment plant for the Snack Production facility at Kashira in Russia for Pepsi Col Int.
WABAG was awarded the refurbishment and expansion of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at PEPSI Co. Int.’s Kashira snack production facility near Moscow. Since 2002, as PEPSI’s first snack plant in Russia, this site has produced potato chips and, after 15 years of operation, expanded its production capacity. The project involved upgrading electro-mechanical equipment for pre-treatment, anaerobic treatment (UASB), CAS, and sludge handling, increasing plant capacity from 45 to 60 m³/h. The plant was commissioned in 2018.
- Scope: Design, equipment supply, installation, commissioning, and start-up.
- Technologies: The ETP comprises following main components resp. process steps:
-
- Inlet pumping station
- Parabolic screen
- Calamity tank (new)
- Primary clarifiers
- DAF unit
- Acidification & Conditioning tanks
- Anaerobic treatment (UASB)
- Gas treatment
- CAS: Activated sludge tanks for nitrification-denitrification
- Secondary clarification
- Chemicals preparation and dosing stations
- Sludge dewatering
- Impact: The upgraded ETP will significantly enhance environmental sustainability by improving water quality and reducing waste. Additionally, the increased treatment capacity will support the expanded production at the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and contributing to the long-term operational efficiency of the plant.
