WABAG’s advanced Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for Kanpur’s leather cluster: supporting India’s clean Ganga mission.
WABAG has built a 20 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for the leather cluster in Jajmau, Kanpur, along the Ganges River. This state-of-the-art facility replaces outdated treatment plants, significantly reducing toxic discharges into one of the Ganga’s most polluted stretches.
The comprehensive project includes a collection and conveyance system, advanced effluent and tertiary treatment, and a 900 KLD chrome recovery unit, which enables chrome reuse in tanneries. Additionally, a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) pilot plant has been set up on site.
Built on a turnkey basis, WABAG provided end-to-end services—from design and construction to commissioning—followed by 5 years of operations and maintenance (O&M).
