For Pure Water, Think WABAG!

Aerobic sludge stabilization

In modern wastewater treatment plants, the focus is on producing virtually solids-free discharges. However, sewage sludge, a by-product of the treatment process, holds immense potential as a source of energy and nutrients. Correct treatment is essential, involving the reduction or removal of high water content, pollutants, pathogenic bacteria, and malodorous substances. Our range of mature processes and plants enables the full exploitation of sludge potential. Two primary processes for correct sludge treatment include aerobic and anaerobic digestion.

Aerobic Sludge Stabilization occurs in open sludge tanks with air injection. Sufficient space is a prerequisite, and higher energy requirements, compared to anaerobic digestion, result from aeration and agitation. By applying alternating aeration, WABAG suggests reducing the necessity for aeration strictly, achieving denitrification, and reducing additional alkalinity dosing.
