Industrial wastewater treatment poses unique challenges due to diverse impurities and increasingly stringent effluent standards. As a result, effectively treating  industrial wastewater requires extensive knowledge of process technologies and their economical.

We specialize in designing customized, multi-stage processes based on the specific characteristics of the wastewater. Our technologies include aerobic and anaerobic biological treatments, chemical-physical processes, and advanced membrane systems. For less contaminated water, we utilize systems like the MBBR – FLUOPUR® and BIOPUR® biofiltration. For high-level treatments such as water recycling, we integrate advanced processes like reverse osmosis and ion exchange.

 

Our team has extensive experience in designing, building, and operating wastewater treatment plants for clients across various industries, including Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Food & Beverages, Textiles, Steelworks, and more.

Examples of effluent treatment plants for various applications include the Integrated ETP for the Refinery and Petrochemical Complex RAPID in Malaysia, which treats seven complex oily effluent streams totaling over 102,000 m³/day. Another highlight in the Oil & Gas industry is the Produced Water Treatment Plant for Romania’s largest oilfield, Suplacu. Here, an innovative process was custom-designed to meet stringent environmental standards. In Windhoek, Namibia, we implemented a treatment plant (5,175 m³/day) at the Ujams  industrial park, purifying effluents from various production facilities and managing extreme variations in loads and characteristics using advanced technologies such as MICROPUR-MBR®.

Total Water Solutions

For the new Grass Root Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemical Complex of the DANGOTE Group in Nigeria, WABAG has implemented a comprehensive water management system, including raw water intake, treatment, demineralization, a condensate polishing unit, and effluent treatment/recycling.

Advanced technologies such as MARAPUR-MBR®, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, biofiltration (WABAG BIOPUR®), SBR-CYCLOPUR®, and Spent Caustic treatment are employed. Treated effluents, cooling tower, and boiler blowdown streams undergo further processing in a reverse osmosis based demineralization plant for sustainable water recycling. 

WABAG constructed a Total Water Solution Package for a Petrochemical extension project for HMEL at Bathinda Refinery, Punjab, India. The system includes raw water treatment, RO-demineralisation, a condensate polishing unit, effluent treatment, and UF/RO water recycling. River water is utilized, with an inflow capacity of 64,800 m3/d.
