WABAG successfully delivered two critical water infrastructure projects for SAUDI ARAMCO in Jazan Economic City: a 40 MLD Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and a 60 MLD Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant. The ETP provides three-stage treatment and enables partial reuse of industrial (32 MLD) and municipal (8 MLD) effluents, while the SWRO plant ensures a reliable supply of potable water from the Red Sea. Together, these facilities play a vital role in supporting industrial activity and promoting sustainable development in one of Saudi Arabia’s most strategic economic hubs.

Project Highlights:

• Scope: Design and engineering, manufacturing, inspection and testing in accordance with ARAMCO standards, supply and delivery to site, installation supervision, site-testing & commissioning, start-up support, spare parts, O&M manuals, training, warranty, and equipment consumables. 

• Treatment Process:
  • ETP:
    • Pre-treatment: Fine screening, grit removal
    • Primary Treatment: Oil, fat & grease removal
    • Secondary Treatment: Oxidation ditch, final settlement
    • Tertiary Treatment: Rapid gravity dual media filtration, chlorination
    • Sludge Management: Thickening, aerobic digestion, dewatering
  • SWRO:
    • Seawater intake system: Inlet chamber & pumping station, drum screens, pre-chlorination
    • Pre-treatment: Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), ultrafiltration
    • Desalination: 2 stage Reverse Osmosis
    • Post-treatment: Re-mineralization with lime & CO₂ and post-chlorination

• Impact: The project enhances environmental sustainability by treating 40 MLD of wastewater, with 10,000 m³/day reused for irrigation, and producing 60 MLD of high-quality drinking water from seawater. These advanced facilities ensure reliable water supply and efficient wastewater management, directly supporting the industrial development of Jazan Economic City and aligning with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
