Bagged the prestigious Global Water Award for the Koyambedu TTRO Plant, Chennai

WABAG has won the prestigious Global Water Award for its 45 MLD Tertiary Treatment Reverse Osmosis (TTRO) Plant at Koyambedu, Chennai. The plant bagged the Distinction Award under “Wastewater Project of the Year” category, reinforcing its leadership in the Global Water Industry.

The TTRO plant is one of the Largest and most Technologically Advanced Water Reuse Plants in India designed and built by a consortium comprising WABAG and IDE Technologies for Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (CMWSSB). The project marks a decisive step in the direction of municipal water recycling, thereby promoting an alternative and viable model for urban water governance. The globally recognised Plant will help free over 16 million m3 of freshwater each year, securing water supply for Chennai’s population of more than 10 million people.

Commenting on the importance of this Global recognition Mr. Rajneesh Chopra, Global Head – Business Development, said “Water Recycle & Reuse (R&R) is projected to be the key growth driver, opening up major business opportunities by 2025. Several states in India have come up with Reuse policies aiming at 100% collection and treatment of Waste Water and Recycling up to 70% of Treated Waste Water by 2025, further providing impetus to the R&R segment in India, thus opening a Multi-Billion-Dollar market.

Mr. Chopra further commented that with “One City, One Operator (OCOP)” model for Waste Water management, WABAG has been a frontrunner to help Urban Local Bodies (ULB) optimise cost & time, simultaneously improving efficiency and performance of existing infrastructure as well as service to citizens. Currently managing the waste water infrastructure in the cities of Agra and Ghaziabad, we expect other states also to follow the same model in near future thus opening another Multibillion dollar segment in India.

Backed by its Global References, demonstrated capability and proven Technological Expertise, WABAG is well poised to capitalize on these two segments (R&R and OCOP) which will be the Major Growth Drivers for WABAG.

Sustainable solutions. For a better life.
