05 December 2018WABAG partners in Odisha Government’s Environmental Initiative
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik dedicated the WABAG built Sewage Treatment Plant at CDA Sector 01 to the people of Cuttack (Odisha, India) on 5th December 2018. The plant is equipped with advanced wastewater treatment technologies like Activated Sludge Process and Anaerobic Sludge Digestion. The project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and will be operated and maintained by WABAG for 7 years.
The plant will boost the sewerage and sanitation system of the city by purifying 3.6 crore liters of treated wastewater and rejuvenating the rivers like Mahanadi and Kathajodi. This will ensure a healthy environment for over 1 million people in the city.
The project is part of the package, awarded to WABAG for construction of new sewage treatment plants and pumping station in the twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. WABAG is currently building two more new STPs of capacity 48 MLD at Bhubaneswar and 16 MLD at Cuttack to enhance the drainage system of the twin cities. All the three projects together will strengthen the wastewater infrastructure of both the cities to ensure a clean and healthy environment for the people of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
