Comprehensive Water Management Solution for Andhra Pradesh’s Thermal Power Plants

WABAG executed an advanced water management package for Kakatiya (KTPP) and Rayalaseema (RTPP) Thermal Power Plants under the Balance of Plant (BOP) scope for Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO). The integrated solution enhances power plant efficiency through optimized condensate treatment, ensuring high-purity water recovery and improved operational reliability.

High-Efficiency Condensate Polishing System for Power Generation

The plant features a state-of-the-art Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU) with a combined treatment capacity of 2 × 973 m³/hr. Designed to remove corrosion residuals, metallic oxides, and other impurities from steam condensate, the system recovers and recycles high-quality water back into the boiler circuit—minimizing scaling, corrosion, and chemical consumption.

PLC-Enabled Automation for Reliable and Continuous Operation

Equipped with PLC-based automatic controls, the CPU ensures seamless resin transfer, regeneration, and service operation. The process integrates cationic and anionic resin separation and regeneration systems, maintaining consistent water quality and reducing manual intervention.

Supporting Sustainable Thermal Power Operations

Through efficient polishing and recycling of condensate, the project supports sustainable water use in thermal power generation. The system minimizes freshwater draw, lowers operational costs, and extends equipment life—contributing to resource efficiency and environmental stewardship across APGENCO’s plants.

Scope

EPC-based execution covering Design, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning.
