Seawater Desalination Plant Ensuring Reliable Industrial Water Supply for NCC Power, Nellore
WABAG designed and built a high-efficiency Seawater Desalination Plant (SWRO) for NCC Power Projects Ltd. in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, to provide a sustainable and uninterrupted supply of industrial-grade water. The facility, commissioned in 2015, has a permeate capacity of 414 m³/h (27,768 m³/day) and ensures dependable water availability for power generation, even in regions facing freshwater scarcity.
Energy-Optimized Reverse Osmosis for Industrial Desalination
The desalination system incorporates a multi-stage pretreatment and RO configuration, featuring a Lamella Clarifier, Dual Media Filter (DMF), Pressure Sand Filter, and a two-stage Reverse Osmosis (RO) unit for seawater and brackish water treatment. The integration of a turbocharger energy recovery device significantly lowers power consumption, improving the plant’s overall efficiency and sustainability.
PLC-Driven Automation for Reliable and Continuous Operation
Engineered with PLC-based semi-automatic control, the plant ensures consistent operation, optimized system response, and reduced downtime. This automation enhances reliability, enabling precise management of filtration, RO recovery, and remineralization stages for consistent water quality.
Sustainable Water Management Supporting Power Sector Resilience
By supplying treated water that meets stringent quality standards, the project minimizes freshwater dependence and strengthens resource efficiency. The system plays a vital role in supporting sustainable power production, reinforcing WABAG’s leadership in delivering desalination-based water solutions for the industrial sector.n power generation.
