Industrial Water Treatment Plants Ensuring Reliable Power Generation for GECOL in Libya

WABAG executed four industrial water treatment plants for power stations in Tobruk, Tripoli, and Derna for the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL). For the 565 MW Tripolis West power plant, WABAG installed a demineralization plant dedicated to producing high-purity boiler feed water, essential to preventing corrosion and scaling in high-pressure boilers. This project ensures uninterrupted power plant operations and contributes to regional power security.

High-Purity Demineralized Water for Boiler Operations

The treatment scheme integrates a multi-stage purification system designed to remove dissolved salts, acids, and impurities to achieve superior water quality required for thermal power generation. The system protects the boiler network, enhances operational efficiency, and minimizes unplanned shutdowns.

EPC Delivery for Reliable and Long-Term Industrial Water Performance

Delivered on a complete EPC (Design, Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning) basis, the project reflects WABAG’s proficiency in providing turnkey industrial water infrastructure under challenging operating environments. Robust system engineering ensures high availability and reduced O&M burden for the power utility.

Scope

EPC turnkey execution: Design, Engineering, Construction, Supply, Installation, and Commissioning.
