WABAG leverages the Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model for projects involving water supply through sea water desalination or surface water treatment. This model is ideal for industries requiring a reliable and continuous water supply, aligning with WABAG’s commitment to providing sustainable and innovative water solutions.
Under the BOOT model, the private developer finances the entire project, bearing the investment risk. Payment to the Concessionaire is made by industries based on the volume of water supplied after achieving the Commercial Operation Date (COD). This revenue model ensures that the developer recovers their investment through the sale of water during the concession period with take or pay assurance from the Industries.
Notable examples of WABAG’s BOOT projects include the Ujams Industrial Wastewater Reclamation Plant in Windhoek, Namibia, and the Chennai Wastewater Treatment Project in Alandur, India. These projects demonstrate WABAG’s ability to execute water treatment solutions efficiently and sustainably.Â
