WABAG ensures water security for the people of Tagtabazar, Turkmenistan under difficult climatic conditions

WABAG Czech has successfully commissioned the Sojunaly WTP at Tagtabazar, Turkmenistan for our client ABY Kovser. The 15,000 m3/d drinking water treatment plant was built by WABAG under very challenging environmental conditions.

The scope of the new water treatment plant included design & engineering, supply, installation, commissioning as well as training of the O&M personnel. The plant treats raw water from 20 wells to reduce suspended solids and high water hardness from 12 mval/l to 7 mval/l. The main components of the plant comprise of:

 

  • Raw water pumping (20 wells)
  • Pumping stations (PS) Yashlyk and Marcak
  • Raw water storage tank (2 x 500 m3)
  • 3 pcs of sand filter (WABAG’s two-chamber filter
  • Softening by ion filtration
  • Chemical regeneration and chemical dosing (sodium hypochlorite – NaClO)
  • Water accumulation (4 x 1,000 m3)
  • PS for drinking water, wastewater treatment and PS for wastewater

The plant is located in the semi-desert area on the border to Afghanistan, which is a strategically important point to ensure drinking water supply for the people of Tagtabazar. The successful commissioning and handing over of the project under the extreme climatic conditions stands testimony to the commitment of Team WABAG to implement critical projects.
