WABAG Secures Consortium Order from ONAS for 36 MLD Wastewater Treatment Plant in Tunisia
AFD, BEI, and EU Funded Project Reinforces WABAG’s Leadership in North Africa
We are pleased to share that VA TECH WABAG secured a significant order from the Office National De L’assainissement (ONAS) in Tunisia. This consortium order, valued at 114.22 million Tunisian Dinars (approx. 34 million Euros), is for the design, build, and operation (DBO) of a 36 MLD Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) at Sousse Hamdoun II, Tunisia.
Funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Investment Bank (BEI), and the European Union (EU), this project solidifies WABAG’s leading position in Tunisia and the North African region. The project will be executed over a period of 24 months, followed by a 12-month operation and maintenance phase.
WABAG’s excellent track record with ONAS, spanning three decades, coupled with a technically superior and competitive bid, were key factors in securing this repeat order. The scope of WABAG under this order includes engineering and procurement (EP) as well as operation and maintenance (O&M), accounting for about half of the consortium order value. This includes design, engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning of the plant, followed by a one-year O&M phase.
WABAG will lead the consortium, with Entreprise Gloulou Mohamed et Salem (EGMS) as the consortium partner responsible for all civil works associated with the project.
Commenting on this order win, Mr. Habib Derouich, CEO – WABAG Tunisia, stated, “We express our gratitude to ONAS for their continued trust and confidence in WABAG. With this repeat order won amidst strong global competition, WABAG further strengthens its market leadership in Tunisia and the North African region.”
