WABAG has successfully executed the Tertiary Treatment Reverse Osmosis (TTRO) Plant for Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) in Koyambedu, Chennai.
The plant is one of the largest and technologically most advanced water reuse plants in India. The project marks a decisive step in the direction of municipal water recycling, thereby promoting an alternative and viable model for urban water governance.
The TTRO plant with a capacity of 45 MLD, has been designed and built by a consortium comprising WABAG and IDE. The project worth INR 482.21 crores was awarded by CMWSSB. In addition to design and build, WABAG will also be responsible to operate and maintain the facility for a period of 15 years.
The Koyambedu TTRO project further reinforces WABAG’s position as a proven global leader in recycle & reuse, a segment projected to have the highest growth potential over the next 3 years. Given its global references and proven technological expertise, WABAG is well poised to capitalize on this potential observed in the water reuse segment. The segment is expected to witness exponential growth driven by Government policies on municipal industrial partnerships, Jal Jivan Abhiyan and Smart Cities Mission.
The project was funded by the Government of India (GOI) under the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) program and the Government of Tamil Nadu under the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Program (TNIPP), demonstrating the local authorities’ commitment to make Chennai water resilient.
